A Void Full of Possibilities
Proposal for the Türkiye Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2027.

The proposal takes the concrete core sample — “karot” in Turkish — as its point of departure: a small cylindrical fragment extracted from an existing building to test the condition of concrete.

In Türkiye, where core drilling is routinely used in structural assessment processes that often precede demolition, the project repositions the core not as a final act before erasure, but as a critical threshold. What possibilities might open from the void it leaves behind?

The pavilion was imagined as a space for architectural propositions that are responsive to context, grounded in material knowledge, connected to craft, and open to technical innovation. Cardboard tubes, evoking the form and texture of concrete cores, structure the exhibition as both display system and forum: a continuous environment for models, drawings, films, conversations, and new collaborations.

Rather than treating the core as a sign of destruction, A Void Full of Possibilities asks how architecture might begin again from what has been cut, tested, questioned, and made visible.​

2027 Venedik Mimarlık Bienali Türkiye Pavyonu için Öneri

Öneri, betonun durumunu test etmek için mevcut bir binadan çıkarılan küçük silindirik bir parça olan beton karot örneğini (Türkçede "karot") çıkış noktası olarak alıyor.

Çünkü Türkiye'de, yıkımdan önce sıklıkla kullanılan yapısal değerlendirme süreçlerinde karot delme işlemi rutin olarak kullanılırken, proje karotu silme işleminden önceki son eylem olarak değil, kritik bir eşik olarak yeniden konumlandırıyor. Geride bıraktığı boşluktan hangi olasılıklar açılabilir?

Pavyon, bağlama duyarlı, malzeme bilgisine dayalı, zanaatla bağlantılı ve teknik yeniliğe açık mimari öneriler için bir alan olarak tasarlandı. Beton karotların formunu ve dokusunu çağrıştıran karton tüpler, sergiyi hem sergileme sistemi hem de forum olarak yapılandırıyor: modeller, çizimler, filmler, konuşmalar ve yeni işbirlikleri için sürekli bir ortam.

A Void Full of Possibilities, özü bir yıkım işareti olarak ele almak yerine, mimarinin kesilmiş, test edilmiş, sorgulanmış ve görünür hale getirilmiş olanlardan nasıl yeniden başlayabileceğini sorguluyor.
